(19.06.2013 WDSF/ddp direct) Bei einer Inspektion des Delfinariums im Asterix Park Paris hat das Hagener Wal- und Delfinschutz-Forum (WDSF) am 15.06.2013 festgestellt, dass das am 29.12.2012 geborene Delfinbaby Baleos kurz nach der Geburt verstorben ist. Der Park hatte den Tod des Babys bisher verschwiegen und stolz auf seine vier anderen Delfingeburten seit 2009 verwiesen.
Das WDSF hat weiterhin dokumentiert, dass mindestens elf weitere Delfine in dem Asterix-Vergnügungspark ihr Leben lassen mussten. Der im Jahr 1994 aus dem geschlossenen deutschen Delfinarium im Holiday Park in Hassloch transferierte Delfin Cindy starb im Mai 2001, (mdst.) sieben Delfine nach ihm. Der zweite Delfin aus Hassloch, Beauty, wurde zweimal zwischen dem Asterix Park und dem holländischen Delfinarium Harderwijk verschoben und lebt heute noch in Paris, teilt das WDSF mit.
Durch die vier überlebenden Nachzuchten und fünf Importe aus dem Delfinarium Harderwijk im Jahr 2008 hält der Park jetzt noch neun Delfine. WDSF-Geschäftsführer Jürgen Ortmüller: „Das Asterix-Delfinarium betreibt reine Tierquälerei. Die Delfine müssen Wasser-Ballett vorführen, nach Bällen springen und werden für die Anzahl der Tiere in einem relativ kleinen Betonbecken gehalten.“ Noch schlimmer würde es bei den benachbarten Seelöwen in ihrem veralgten sieben Meter-Becken aussehen, so das WDSF.
Erst auf intensives Befragen durch Ortmüller vom WDSF gab eine Delfintrainerin des Parks zu, dass das im Winter geborene Delfinbaby wieder gestorben sei.
Das WDSF kritisiert das von Delfinarien und Aquarien gegründete Europäische Erhaltungszuchtprogramm (EEP). Der Große Tümmler („Flipper“) sei nicht vom Aussterben bedroht und die Gefangenschaft diene lediglich reinen Show-Interessen. Die meisten Mitglieder des EEP seien keine Zoos mit einem Bildungsauftrag sondern kommerzielle Vergnügungsparks, die sich nach Belieben im Zuchtpool bedienen könnten, so das WDSF.
Bei einer Bundestags-Anhörung im Mai stellte sich heraus, dass selbst die Bundesregierung in Berlin trotz Anfrage keine Einsicht in die Zuchtbücher des EEP erhält. Das WDSF fordert daher die staatliche Aufsicht über die Delfin-Zuchtprogramme, damit kommerzielle Interessen der Delfinarien gestoppt werden. --
